Format ledger

Every file format this site serves, and each format a monthly release is cut in: the standard the format follows, and the version the files declare. A version appears only where the files write one, and the cell names where it sits. Where the files write none, the cell says so; that is a fact about these files, not about the standard.

Each standard is named by its designation, with the body that publishes it where one does. Where the only designation is a company’s or a product’s own document, the standard is withheld and the row says so. None is linked from this page. No row says what a standard requires, and no row compares one format with another.

Formats this record defines

Layouts and vocabularies this record defines and no outside body publishes.

Format Standard Version the files declare Served at
API document envelope the shape shared by the v1 API documents that compose it; /developers/ names those that build their own the v1 contract, described at /developers/defined by this record 1 the schema_version member of each API and packet document that carries one
Content rows the record’s rows as a release payload holds them: a YAML block of fields, then Markdown text the record’s content schema, in its source file src/content/config.ts, which a release’s payload does not carrydefined by this record none declared no row’s block of fields names a version of the layout not served as files: the rows travel in a release’s payload, and the site’s pages are rendered from them
Evidence packet one tracked entry’s source, observations and digests, in JSON, Markdown and one archive the packet layout, described at each packet’s own addressdefined by this record 1 the packet_version member of the packet in each packet’s JSON, served and inside its archive
GXP-OBS what an observation, a signal and an evidence state are here GXP-OBS, this record’s observation vocabulary, described at /gxp-obs/defined by this record v1 and v2 the title of each version’s schema document, one document per version
Integrity text files the Merkle root, its leaves and its commit, and the leaves files inside packet archives one line per digest, described at /verify/defined by this record none declared

Formats the site uses to lay out and display pages

Files that present the record. The record’s data is served in the formats above.

Format Standard Version the files declare Served at
CSS the site’s style sheets Cascading Style SheetsW3C none declared not listed: the build names each style sheet by its content, so its address changes with the content
Host configuration the response headers and redirects the host applies —none named: the syntax is the hosting service’s own none declared not listed: the host reads these files

Search index the index the site’s search reads, and the compressed module the search runs to read it —none named: the layout is the search tool’s own, and no standards body issues it none declared not listed: no file of the index is in the sitemap, the list of addresses this site publishes as citable
SVG the share card of each tracked entry and the site’s drawings Scalable Vector GraphicsW3C none declared no file carries a version attribute

Formats a monthly release is cut in

A release is one bag of the public payload, signed. Its payload files are in the formats above and in the rows below. The version cell of a row is the declaration the release cut writes.

No release has been published. The declarations below are the ones the cut writes; no published release holds them yet.

Format Standard Version the cut writes Served at
BagIt the public payload as one bag, with a digest for every file RFC 8493IETF BagIt-Version: 1.0 the bag declaration the cut writes no release has been published
Digest list every file of the release with its digest SHA-256, FIPS 180-4NIST none declared no standard is named for the list’s layout, one digest and one file name per line no release has been published
gzip the compression of the bag, of the WARC, and of each page text the payload retains RFC 1952IETF none declared no release has been published
SSH signature the record’s signature over the digest list, and the public key that checks it —withheld: the signature layout is specified by an implementation’s own documentation, and this record names no product; the key is Ed25519, RFC 8032 none declared no release has been published
tar archive the bag serialized as one file the pax interchange format, POSIX.1 (IEEE Std 1003.1)IEEE pax the archive format the cut selects no release has been published
WARC the retained raw bodies of hosts that permit it, as one file ISO 28500:2017ISO WARC/1.1 the first line of every record the cut writes no release has been published
YAML the payload’s declarations of the sources this record reads, and the block of fields that opens each content row YAMLpublished at its own address; no standards body issues it none declared no YAML file and no content row’s block of fields opens with a YAML directive no release has been published

Sections are in the order shown. Within each, rows are ordered by format name, A to Z. The data, documents and proofs of this record are described at /developers/, and the integrity files at /verify/.
